Clan Wolf - Theta Galaxy Star.
I finally found the perfect material to finish up the bases on these minis. Except for the Mad Dog, none of these miniatures had “free” feet, so I created super sculpey bases that had a slot for the metal they stood on.
That worked out great, but the problem was covering up the metal after I put them on their bases. Because super sculpey has to be baked to harden, I couldn’t use that again. I’d previously used a synthetic air-drying compound for bases, but it’s best for soft shapes. (See the Huntsman I did, for an example.)
Today, I found some inexpensive air-drying natural clay. (Activ-Clay is the brand.) It’s got a great texture and is incredibly easy to work with, and holds its shape well, which makes it great for sculpting rocky terrain. Once it dries completely, I’ll paint over the air-drying clay to blend it in with the sculpey.
